What better way to launch my inaugural Tarot Tuesday than with the deck that started it all for me, the stunning Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti? My passion for Tarot was ignited one evening back in 2004, when I was idly surfing the net and reading blogs and someone mentioned the word “divination.” I was intrigued and did a little Googling and ended up on a forum called Aeclectic Tarot (still an active and thriving community).
I still remember the thrill I felt and the quickening of my heart as I read and realized that I had found something that would change my life. These were intelligent, articulate, spiritual people talking about the cards as though they actually worked.
I could hardly sleep that night. I got up early the next morning and headed straight to the bookstore, where the Gilded Tarot was waiting for me on the shelf. I grabbed it, and a copy of Tarot for Dummies by Amber Jayanti (a very good beginner’s book, by the way), and raced home to do my first reading. I knew absolutely nothing. I asked my question, laid out the cards according to the instructions in the book, and looked up the meaning of each card, one by one. I was stunned and awed to realize that the cards related specifically to my question and gave me the guidance I was looking for.
I’ve been in a passionate love affair with the Tarot ever since. The cards are my companions and friends, my tool for clarity and self-knowledge, and my direct line to the Divine. I’ve become an avid collector, and over the years I have amassed 30 decks and more than 60 books. The depth and breadth of Tarot study is so vast I could easily spend the rest of my life learning and practicing and never know it all. There’s always more to learn, but I’m sure having fun on the journey!
Which brings us to today’s card, The Page of Pentacles. What a perfect card for a beginning! Pages are all about new beginnings and new endeavors, and this Page in particular is the quintessential student. He knows the road ahead will require lots of hard work and study but he’s fired up for the challenge. He’s more than ready to put in the effort required to reach his goal.
Pages often indicate messages, and this one would bring news of work, financial or educational matters, since Pentacles in the Tarot are all about foundations…work, money, security, learning. Pages also often represent actual children in your life.
So, my lovely readers, what are you working on today? Are you taking steps toward a new goal, starting a new venture? Are you excited to start learning about something new? The Page of Pentacles invites you to step onto that path with confidence and keep your eyes on the prize.
