Remember when I said I may at times ask you to try things that seem a little out there? If the reactions of my coworkers are any indication, this is one of those things. (My boss flat-out told me I was crazy.) Open your mind, and hear me out.
I first read about blue solar water when I was learning about the Hawaiian spiritual practice called Ho’oponopono (more on that on the blog soon). Practitioners of that tradition say that drinking water which has been sitting in the sun in a blue bottle will clear the subconscious of old negative memories and programming. I don’t know about all that, but I do know that everything is energy. It makes sense that the healing and cleansing energies of the sun and the calming color blue (also associated with communication and the throat chakra) combine to transform ordinary water into a potent healing elixir. If you really want to turbocharge your water, you could buy one of these blue bottles, specifically made for solar water and sandblasted with uplifting designs and words.
To make blue solar water, get a blue glass bottle (any shade, but some say the deep cobalt blue is best) without a metal cap. (I got mine at Target.) Fill with filtered, spring or tap water and let it sit in full sunlight for at least an hour, the longer the better. It will develop a soft, smooth taste and go down very easily. You’ll find your body craves it and it will be very easy to drink a lot, which is a good thing.
Skeptical? Look at it this way: you should be drinking water anyway. Why not drink it out of a beautiful blue bottle? Isn’t it more fun to believe that you’re drinking a magical healing elixir than boring plain old water? Give it a try and let me know what you think!
